Overall, Torbaaz is a watchable film solely because of its intent to showcase a positive storyline alongside the commendable performances from the cast and the dynamic camera work that beautifully captures the terrain and the snowy mountain range of Afghanistan. Nevertheless, the execution of the story is not up to par, and a few storytelling issues spoil the genuine message the film tried to put forth.
A film on such a delicate subject, and with a veteran actor like Sanjay Dutt, could have created a marvellous cinematic experience for all those tearjerker loyalists out there. Sadly, it ends being a ho-hum story lacking gravitas.
Torbaaz begins on a promising note, but soon collapses under its lofty ambitions. We give 2.5 stars out of 5 for Sanjay Dutt-Nargis Fakhri’s Torbaaz.
Overall, Torbaaz can be skipped because it doesn’t deliver the intense message with the intensity it deserved.

The film is let down by its harsh ‘cricket-vs- terrorism’ dynamic, and the insistence on Naseer playing saviour to the kids. When Baaz and his boys disobey him in one scene, I couldn’t help but crack a smile. It’s your team, coach, but it’s their field.
