Laziness is the biggest enemy of a person, hard work of a person is his true friend. Because whenever a man works hard, he is not sad and is always happy.

व्यक्ति का सबसे बड़ा दुश्मन आलस्य होता है, व्यक्ति का परिश्रम ही उसका सच्चा मित्र होता है। क्योंकि जब भी मनुष्य परिश्रम करता है तो वह दुखी नहीं होता है और हमेशा खुश ही रहता है।
उद्यमेन हि सिध्यन्ति कार्याणि न मनोरथैः।

English translation:
A person’s works are completed only by hard work, only by wishing his works are not completed. Just as a deer does not come into the mouth of a sleeping lion, the lion has to work hard for it.

व्यक्ति के मेहनत करने से ही उसके काम पूरे होते हैं, सिर्फ इच्छा करने से उसके काम पूरे नहीं होते। जैसे सोये हुए शेर के मुंह में हिरण स्वयं नहीं आता, उसके लिए शेर को परिश्रम करना पड़ता है।
वाणी रसवती यस्य,यस्य श्रमवती क्रिया।
लक्ष्मी : दानवती यस्य,सफलं तस्य जीवितं।।
English translation:
A person whose voice is sweet, whose work is full of labor, whose wealth is used for charity, his life is successful.

जिस मनुष्य की वाणी मीठी हो, जिसका काम परिश्रम से भरा हो, जिसका धन दान करने में प्रयुक्त हो, उसका जीवन सफ़ल है।
यस्तु संचरते देशान् यस्तु सेवेत पण्डितान्।
तस्य विस्तारिता बुद्धिस्तैलबिन्दुरिवाम्भसि।।
English translation:
A person who travels in different countries and has relations with scholars. That person’s intelligence is like a drop of oil spread throughout the water.
Hindi translation:
जो व्यक्ति भिन्न-भिन्न देशों में यात्रा करता है और विद्वानों से सम्बन्ध रखता है। उस व्यक्ति की बुध्दि उसी तरह होती है जैसे तेल की एक बूंद पूरे पानी में फैलती है।
श्रोत्रं श्रुतेनैव न कुंडलेन, दानेन पाणिर्न तु कंकणेन।

English translation:
Wearing a coil in the ears does not enhance the beauty, but by listening to the words of knowledge. The beauty of hands is not achieved by wearing bracelets, but by giving charity. Even the body of gentlemen is not adorned with sandalwood but by the works done in charity.

कानों में कुंडल पहन लेने से शोभा नहीं बढ़ती, अपितु ज्ञान की बातें सुनने से होती है। हाथों की सुन्दरता कंगन पहनने से नहीं होती बल्कि दान देने से होती है। सज्जनों का शरीर भी चन्दन से नहीं बल्कि परहित में किये गये कार्यों से शोभायमान होता है।
प्रदोषे दीपक : चन्द्र:,प्रभाते दीपक:रवि:।
त्रैलोक्ये दीपक:धर्म:,सुपुत्र: कुलदीपक:।।
English translation:
The moon is the lamp in the evening, the sun is the lamp in the morning, the dharma is the lamp in the three worlds and the son is the lamp of Kool.

संध्या काल में चन्द्रमा दीपक है, प्रभात काल में सूर्य दीपक है, तीनों लोकों में धर्म दीपक है और सुपुत्र कूल का दीपक है।
अश्वस्य भूषणं वेगो मत्तं स्याद् गजभूषणं।
चातुर्यम् भूषणं नार्या उद्योगो नरभूषणं।।
English translation:
The beauty of a horse is due to its speed and the beauty of an elephant is by its intoxicating gait. The beauty of women is because of their efficiency in various tasks and that of men because of their industriousness.
Hindi translation:
घोड़े की शोभा उसके वेग से होती है और हाथी की शोभा उसकी मदमस्त चाल से होती है।नारियों की शोभा उनकी विभिन्न कार्यों में दक्षता के कारण और पुरुषों की उनकी उद्योगशीलता के कारण होती है।
यथा ह्येकेन चक्रेण न रथस्य गतिर्भवेत्।
एवं परुषकारेण विना दैवं न सिद्ध्यति।।
English translation:
Just like a chariot cannot move with one wheel. Similarly, luck cannot be accomplished without effort.
Hindi translation:
जैसे एक पहिये से रथ नहीं चल सकता। ठीक उसी प्रकार बिना पुरुषार्थ के भाग्य सिद्ध नहीं हो सकता है।
प्रियवाक्य प्रदानेन सर्वे तुष्यन्ति जन्तवः।
तस्मात तदैव वक्तव्यम वचने का दरिद्रता।।
English translation:
All living beings are satisfied by speaking dear sentences, so only dear words should be spoken. How are you miserly in speaking such words?
Hindi translation:
प्रिय वाक्य बोलने से सभी जीव संतुष्ट हो जाते हैं, अतः प्रिय वचन ही बोलने चाहिए। ऐसे वचन बोलने में कंजूसी कैसी।
सेवितव्यो महावृक्ष: फ़लच्छाया समन्वित:।
यदि देवाद फलं नास्ति,छाया केन निवार्यते।।
English translation:
One should serve a huge tree. Because he is endowed with fruit and shadow. If due to some misfortune it does not bear fruit, then no one can stop its shadow.
Hindi translation:
एक विशाल वृक्ष की सेवा करनी चाहिए। क्योंकि वह फल और छाया से युक्त होता है। यदि किसी दुर्भाग्य से फल नहीं देता तो उसकी छाया कोई नहीं रोक सकता है।
मूर्खस्य पञ्च चिह्नानि गर्वो दुर्वचनं तथा।
क्रोधश्च दृढवादश्च परवाक्येष्वनादरः।।
English translation:
The five characteristics of a fool are pride, wicked talk, anger, stubborn reasoning and lack of respect for other people.
Hindi translation:
एक मुर्ख के पांच लक्षण होते है घमण्ड, दुष्ट वार्तालाप, क्रोध, जिद्दी तर्क और अन्य लोगों के लिए सम्मान में कमी।
देवो रुष्टे गुरुस्त्राता गुरो रुष्टे न कश्चन:।
गुरुस्त्राता गुरुस्त्राता गुरुस्त्राता न संशयः।।
English translation:
If fate gets angry, the Guru protects. If the Guru gets angry, no one will be there. Guru is the protector, Guru is the teacher, there is no doubt about it.
Hindi translation:
भाग्य रूठ जाये तो गुरू रक्षा करता है। गुरू रूठ जाये तो कोई नहीं होता। गुरू ही रक्षक है, गुरू ही शिक्षक है, इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं।
विद्या मित्रं प्रवासेषु,भार्या मित्रं गृहेषु च।
व्याधितस्यौषधं मित्रं, धर्मो मित्रं मृतस्य च।।
English translation:
Knowledge abroad, good nature and qualities at home and virtuous wife, drug patient and religion is the greatest friend of the deceased.

विदेश में ज्ञान, घर में अच्छे स्वभाव और गुणस्वरूप पत्नी, औषध रोगी का तथा धर्म मृतक का सबसे बड़ा मित्र होता है।

The age, knowledge, fame and strength of the person who greets the elders and the person who always serves the elders keeps on increasing.
